The fastest compact crossbow

The Havoc RS440 is one of the smallest crossbows on the market, at only 26.5 inches long and 7.5 inches broad when cocked. Even though it delivers a powerful punch in such a little container, it feels and shoots like a larger crossbow.

TenPoint's designers intended to build something that felt comfortable for shooters of all sizes, while also using their reverse-draw technology to give the unrivaled speed of 440 fps, power, and accuracy.

This technology is responsible for this crossbow's ability to remain comfortable while shooting. In contrast to a standard crossbow, which has the riser situated in front. The riser of the Havoc RS440 is located in the center of the crossbow, maintaining more weight in the center of the crossbow and making it simpler to hold on target.

Reverse-draw bow assembly

The TenPoint Havoc RS440 crossbow has a Reverse-Draw design that, when paired with RX7-cams and an elongated power stroke, allows it to shoot arrows at 440 feet per second. This is essentially the same design as the Vapor RS470.

The Havoc RS440's assembly design provides several benefits over a standard forward draw-type crossbow.

  •       The aluminum riser and limb pockets of the Havoc RS440 bow are attached mid-way down the stock rather than at the far end of the flight rail by attaching the bow assembly to the stock in the other manner. This brings the crossbow's center of gravity closer to the shooter's torso and places the majority of the crossbow's weight behind the fore-grip support hand. This removes the front-heavy sensation seen in most crossbows and results in excellent overall balance, making the Havoc RS440 extremely comfortable to shoulder and simple to shoot from an off-hand posture.

  •        The string's resting point is stretched a few inches further down the flight rail by inverting the bow assembly and adjusting the riser mounting location. When compared to an arrow shot from a forward draw crossbow with the same rail length, the Havoc RS440's power stroke length is increased to 13.5-inches, resulting in a smoother, quieter shot with a quicker arrow speed of 440 fps. This advantage enables the Havoc RS440 bow to be ultra-compact while yet performing at the highest degree of accuracy.

  •        When compared to forwarding draw crossbow, the Havoc RS440 uses less energy. Because a reverse-draw crossbow's power stroke is longer than that of a forward draw, the needed draw weight is smaller, yet the assembly still accelerates the arrow faster than a front draw crossbow with the same draw weight and total crossbow length.

Because the strings and cables are set at a lower draw weight, resulting in less vibration after the shot, the crossbow is incredibly silent and smooth-shooting. Less vibration implies less "muzzle jump," which makes it easier for the shooter to follow through on the shot by keeping the aiming point on the target after the arrow has been released.

EVO-X Marksman Elite Scope

The EVO-X Marksman Elite scope was created for crossbows that can shoot at speeds ranging from 300 to 500 feet per second. So, if you wanted to convert to a heavier or lighter arrow arrangement with this crossbow for whatever reason, all you have to do is find out the speed of the bow with that combination. Once you've determined how quickly the crossbow shoots, just change the variable-speed locking ring to your desired speed, and the lighted crosshairs will be properly aligned with the crossbow.

The EVO-X Marksman Elite also has micro-adjustable external target turrets that allow for total windage and elevation adjustment. While gazing through the scope, you will see bespoke reticles that can be illuminated in either red or green by turning the side dial.

You may change the unique reticles from black to lit red or green by twisting a dial on the side of the sight.

Sighting in the EVO-X Marksman Elite

TenPoint has already pre-sighted the EVO-X Marksman Elite scope before shipping the crossbows. However, the scope can lose some of its accuracies during delivery. It's wise to take every crossbow to the range for some target practice before taking it on a hunt.

Check that The EVO-X Marksman Elite scope is correctly sighted in at 20-yard distances before moving it to a 50-yard distance. The additional aiming points should be adjusted once it has been properly sighted in at 50 yards.

Quiver & arrows

6 Evo-X CenterPunch16 quality carbon arrows and 100-grain target points are included with the Tenpoint Havoc RS440 crossbow package. Each arrow weighs 400 grains and is 16 inches long. This crossbow can shoot arrows at speeds of up to 440 fps.

The 6-Evo-X CenterPunch Tech Quiver is one of the crossbow package's most underappreciated features. Most crossbows come with a quiver that can only store three or four arrows. However, you may now bring all six arrows onto the field with you and not have to bother about collecting them after a missed shot or two.

The 6-Arrow Evo-X CenterPunch Tech Quiver allows you to carry up to 6 arrows in the field.

Micro-Trac Barrel

The Micro-Trac Barrel is a crucial feature that doesn't often stand out when looking at this crossbow. You won't notice much string wear after a few rounds with any crossbow. However, string and service wear become more obvious when hundreds of arrows are fired downrange.

That's why TenPoint's designers invented the Micro-Trac Barrel. It lowers string-to-rail contact by 50%, resulting in a string life of over 1,000 shots. They reduced half of the touch produced when firing the crossbow by adding a deep depression down the rail, as shown in the figure below.

The Micro-Trac Barrel cuts string-to-rail contact by half.

ACUslide cocking & De-cocking system

If you're unfamiliar with TenPoint crossbows, one of the first things you'll notice is their ACUslide cocking and de-cocking System. This ACUslide cocking approach eliminates the requirement for manual crossbow drawback and eliminates the necessity to pack an additional arrow with a target point.

The ACUslide cocking mechanism, like the ACUdraw system from prior TenPoint models, is quiet while cocking the crossbow. However, unlike the ACUdraw method, you may now easily de-cock the bow while cranking. If you were cocking the crossbow and needed to halt or de-cock it, you may now do so without fear of harming the crossbow or injuring yourself owing to the handle flying out of your fingers.

The ACUslide cocking and de-cocking System enables you to halt throughout the cocking operation and easily de-cock the crossbow.

Next-level sighting

The Tenpoint Havoc RS440 XERO gets its name from the high-tech Garmin XERO X1i sighting system that comes standard with this model. This device has near-instantaneous range-finding out to 250 yards, and at all ranges 80 yards and in, the scope shows a single, dead-on aiming point; no more "gap shooting" between the lines on multi-reticle scopes! Other features of the Havoc XERO include a built-in range button and a projected target waypoint through a wireless connection to compatible Garmin navigation systems. In other words, the XERO determines where your target was when you fired!

Other notable XERO features include Steady Aim, which provides a visual indication of how steady you are holding on target, a built-in digital bubble level to help you avoid misses caused by tilting your bow, and even a visual indicator of the apex of your bolt's flight to help you avoid overhanging limbs and other obstacles. The XERO X1i also has 3.5X magnification, multi-colored display choices, the ability to program aiming locations for numerous bolt combinations, and other features.

Balanced power

The Havoc RS440's "bow" is situated in the structural center of the unit to fit the reverse-draw platform and achieve great overall balance. This setup rotates the bow around, bringing the cams to the front, and pushes the strings to be dragged into the riser, which compliments the cams' excessive rotation, resulting in a longer stroke and quicker bolt speeds. Furthermore, the bolt nock remains on the strings for a longer period of time, improving accuracy.

TenPoint equips the Havoc RS440 bow with RX-7 cams with a spiral cable groove, allowing for 360-degree rotation and a longer stroke. The cams yield 440 fps with a 400-grain bolt when combined with TenPoint's Sling-Shot Technology, which compresses the string via a slightly constricted route and increases speed by 10 fps. TenPoint's Vector Quad Cable Technology, which utilizes four distinct cables anchored independently, drives cams in part, resulting in a balanced cam load and straight nock motion for improved accuracy.

TenPoint's Dual Flex limbs are double-hinged, 12" long, and manufactured of Gordon Composites material. To maintain consistency and efficiency, Tri-Lock limb pockets precisely line the limbs to the riser.

Silent control

Cocking and de-cocking, or simply emptying a crossbow, has been one of the most inconvenient aspects of the sport and might be a safety problem. TenPoint's integrated quiet ACUslide eliminates these concerns and gives the shooter complete control. Because of an inbuilt brake mechanism, no matter where you are in the process of cocking or de-cocking, you can simply let go of the handle and it will not move. After de-cocking, the trigger housing unit may be removed from the string using a specific tool attached to the telescopic crank handle.

Compact TEC

The new TEC-TACTICAL stock from TenPoint is injection molded from a lightweight, glass-filled polypropylene material recognized for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and toughness. The two-piece device spans nearly the entire length of the Havoc and houses a rubber butt pad, raised soft cheek piece, pistol grip, trigger guard, and pass-through foregrip. To keep shooters' fingers/thumbs below the flight deck and out of harm's way, plastic safety wings are installed just above the foregrip. The stock has pistol grip finger grooves, a nest for the crank handle, and comes in Hydro-Graphic Graphite Gray or Veil Alpine camo finishes.

Triggered

TenPoint utilizes their Micro-Trac fluted rail/barrel, which has a groove on either side of the center cutout that guides the sliding trigger box throughout the cocking/de-cocking operation while also reducing friction and strings wear by 50 percent. The floating box is connected to the ACUslide by a 1,800-pound test nylon strap. The housing houses the auto-engaging safety feature, as well as the Dry Fire Inhibitor (DFI), which physically prevents the strings from being released until a bolt is properly loaded. On top of the trigger, housing is a bolt-retention brush. When cranked to full draw, its Lock-Latch clicks loudly, releasing strain from the strap and securely anchoring the box.

TenPoint also equips the Havoc with their tried-and-true, 2-stage S1 Trigger, which allows the shooter to pick up the slack in the first stage and then crisply fire the crossbow in the second stage with just 3.5 pounds of pressure and zero creep.

TenPoint's S1 Trigger design features no creep and is one of the company's most recent improvements, motivated directly by user input. This Trigger is outstanding, with a clean and crisp 3.5-pound trigger break with the benefit of an ultra-smooth 2-stage design with ZERO CREEP in the second stage.

While the particular parts utilized to construct the trigger mechanism are confidential, TenPoint's unique roller-sear design is responsible for the low trigger pull-weight and ultra-smooth feel.

This Trigger gives the shooter more control, resulting in tighter groupings and better down-field accuracy.

Performance at the range

We love taking a crossbow to the range for some target shooting and it is by far the most enjoyable aspect of evaluating a crossbow. We'll have two distinct performance testing because TenPoint provides two alternative scopes for the Havoc RS440 bow.

TenPoint's S1 trigger was put on the Havoc RS440. This is a 2-stage trigger with a break force of 3.5 pounds. It's really smooth and that's still one of the best on the market.

6 Evo-X CenterPunch16 premium arrows with 100-grain practice tips are included with the TenPoint Havoc RS440 crossbow package. TenPoint, thankfully, now only speeds up their crossbows with one sort of arrow.

TenPoint's Havoc RS440 XERO is small, nimble, and well-balanced. In fact, to illustrate just how well the Havoc balances, I fired it multiple times with one hand and really did fairly well, hitting my mark!

Now, on the range, the Havoc RS440 crossbow actually outperforms its declared performance rating of 440 fps by 4 frames per second, and that’s quite impressive for the bow. Also, the S1 Trigger has two phases and clean a really clean finish. And the Garmin XERO X1i sight is an astonishing piece of technology that will make you feel like an F16 fighter aircraft is closing in on your target.

Shot noise was within the expected range for a crossbow with these bolt speeds, and the ACUslide made firing the Havoc a breeze. One word of caution: do not aim this beast at any random target. Targets for the Havoc must be robust and made of easy-pull material.

Safety features

TenPoint prioritizes shooter safety in the design process, and its dedication to making the SAFEST hunting crossbows in the world is demonstrated by the numerous standard safety features that are included on EVERY crossbow they make.

1. TenPoint's patented DFI™ (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) stops the crossbow from dry-firing if no arrow is put into the flight rail and the strings are not engaged.

2. When the trigger mechanism is latched to the strings prior to cocking the crossbow, an auto-engaging safety system automatically sets the trigger mechanism in the SAFE position.

3. The Havoc RS440 features a completely integrated pass-through fore-grip, allowing the shooter to comfortably put the fore-grip hand on the front of the crossbow even while firing from a bench or resting posture.

4. The glass-reinforced nylon safety wings act as a barrier, keeping the shooter's hand securely below the bowstring release path.

Recommended accessories

Arrows & broadheads

You must utilize TenPoint's Alpha-Nocks as you would with any other crossbow. Your warranty will be voided if you do not utilize Alpha-Nocks! It is strongly advised to utilize TenPoint's EVO-X CenterPunch 16-inch carbon arrows. These EVO-X CenterPunch16 arrows are extremely precise and straight, and each packet is weight-grain matched to within one grain of each arrow.

We propose utilizing TenPoint's EVO-X CenterPunch broadheads or the RAGE Crossbow X broadheads, just like we did with the Vapor RS470 XERO.

Storage and transportation

The earlier TenPoint crossbow cases do not fit the TenPoint Havoc RS440 crossbow due to its smaller size. TenPoint introduced the HALO Bowpack for their new crossbow, which is also the market's first crossbow backpack. Or SKB hard case.

Overview

As you can see, the Tenpoint Havoc RS440 crossbow delivers a powerful punch in a surprisingly tiny design. Accuracy, comfort, speed, and durability are all key factors to consider when purchasing a crossbow, and this one has them all!
